Digital means using numbers to represent something. An image is converted into numerical data that describe each sample pixel (the basic unit of image information) in terms of certain attributes such as color and intensity. Printing is converting this digital data repeatedly, without any variation, into a physical print. So, at its core, with digital printing, a binary data stream drives a print engine to render a digital image on an output device. The right tools and the right information are necessary to make this happen, and "Mastering Digital Printing, 2nd Edition" explains this technology.
