A Chinese girl, Ling Xuan, comes to the University of Warsaw to study international relations since the boy whom she loves would like to study there. However, he falls in love with another one: a pretty girl who is far better-off. At this moment, a young Japanese makes his appearance in Ling Xuan?s life. They fall in love and the feeling flourishes until the day of an international students? party when the Japanese makes some off-hand remark against China, a remark which Ling Xuan couldn?t forgive? A colleague, Zhou Sheng, has once warned her not to mixed love with politics. Ling Xuan intends to get reconciled with her Japanese boyfriend, but only to be told that he has an affair with another girl. She also hears that her former rival has engaged in a peculiar relationship with a rich old man. There is only one person left to warm Ling Xuan?s heart: a girl from South Korea, Sol. Before graduation, Zhou Sheng opens his heart to Ling Xuan, only to be refused, whereupon Ling Xuan leaves Warsaw. When she comes back to China, Ling Xuan realizes she has always loved Zhou Sheng, and decides to wait for him until he comes back from Europe. The book offers a number of very interesting insights about Chinese overseas students and their life in Warsaw, multi-cultural environment among international students, current world affairs, and how Warsaw is seen and interpreted in the eyes of a Chinese student.
