This will be the fourth of our Student-Friendly Guides. They are short books providing accessible information on core topics for students. The guides can be used as counterparts to weightier study skills texts and will be ideal for students who are experiencing last minute panics or those who simply want guidance on one element of study. Excellent Dissertations focuses on planning and writing up an extended piece of work for undergraduates and postgraduates. It starts from the recognition that producing a dissertation is a twin-track enterprise, involving both undertaking a project and presenting findings - doing the work and writing it up - and offers help with both these activities. As with the other Student-Friendly Guides, the emphasis is on sound, practical advice with lots of memos, boxes and tables to liven up the text.
