Bariatric Surgery

This issue will address the natural history of obesity, the operative and non-operative options for treatment, the metabolic basis for obesity and its metabolic consequences, post-operative expectations, complications, and a candid discussion of the pro's and con's of the operative approach, including financial considerations. Individual articles will address important topics such as the duodenal switch procedures, long-limb gastric-bypass, banding procedures, psychological aspects, quality assurance, and policy implications.
