Traveler Terpening was raised in Homer and the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. He is a professional photographer and writer specialising in travel and the outdoors, and his work has appeared in many international periodicals and ad campaigns. He has travelled extensively within Alaska and around the world. He has worked on and off as a commercial fisherman since he was 15, but has also worked as a kayaking, nature, and hiking guide. Nowadays, he divides his time between Homer – where he organises an annual kite-surfing festival – and Arizona, where he’s currently studying environmental journalism. He recently bought a commercial fishing permit on the Ugashik River in Bristol Bay and looks forward to spending his summers working and playing hard on the Alaska Peninsula. This is his first guidebook.
