ADRIÁN ARMAS has been the Central Manager of Economic Studies/Chief Economist since March 2008.
Between December 2017 and October 2018, Mr. Armas held the position of Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund for the Southern Cone Jurisdiction. He previously served as Manager of Economic Studies (August 2005 - February 2008), as Deputy Manager of the Monetary Sector (September 1997 August 2005), and as Head of Financial Analysis and Programming (February 1995 - August 1997). He also served as an analyst at the Department of Financial Analysis and Programming (January1992 - February 1995) and at the Department of Analysis of the External Sector (August 1986 - August 1990).
Adrián Armas joined the Central Bank of Peru in August 1986 as an analyst in the Department of Analysis of the External Sector after graduating as the second highest ranking student in the XXXIII University Extension Course of the BCRP.
Mr. Armas holds a Masters Degree in Economics from Boston University (1992) and a Bachelor in Economics degree from Universidad del Pacífico (1986).
Mr. Armas has lectured at several universities, has represented the Central Bank of Peru in national and international conferences on macroeconomic and central banking issues, and is the author of numerous monetary policy papers. He published the book entitled "Financial Dollarization: the Policy Agenda", co-edited with Alain Ize (the IMF) and Eduardo Levy Yeyati, Universidad Torcuato Di Tella.
