RODIN AUGUSTE

August Rodin was one of the greatest sculptors of the nineteenth century.During his long and prolific career, he was responsible for breaking awayfrom the conventions of French sculpture with his highly realistic andoften erotic approach to the human form. With "the Kiss", "the Thinker",and "the Gates of Hell", along with hundreds of other busts, groups, andentwined figures, he discovered new and powerful effects that could beobtained from marble, bronze, sculpture, and plaster.
