Past & Future of America's Economy

The Past and Future of America's Economy is a fascinating look at how the US economy has transformed over the last 100 years or so and what this all means for the new economy now. While a slew of books have come out recently attacking the whole idea of a new econmy, this book does a pretty good job of making the case that it's real and will important implications not just for America but other countries as well. His discussion of the emerging digital economy and what it likely to look like was one of the best overviews of the issue I have seen. I especially liked the chapter "The New Econmoy and its Discontents" where the author skewers a wide range of interest groups across the political spectrum for opposing the new economy and being Neo-luddites opposed to progress. It also lays out pretty interesting policy ideas. If i had one complaint it's that the book is bit long-winded in places, but overall it's a pretty enjoyable read.
