This volume documents building activities in Berlin. It includes the office of the president of Germany, the construction of the Chancellery in Tiergarten, the Gemaldegalerie by Hilmer/Sattler, the new Chamber of Industry and Commerce by Grimshaw and Unger's exhibition complex. The book invites the reader to take a stroll through Berlin's most attractive art quarter and traces the developments at the Alexanderplatz. The progress of the buildings now completed around the Friedrichstrasse and the Pariser Platz by architects including Gehry, Kleihues, and Ortner and Ortner are also documented.
