Currently the Scientific Director of the “Project Center for Nanotechnology and Anvanced Engineering (PC-NAE)”, a joint intiative of the Greek National Research Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos” and the Russian Research Center “Kurchatov Institute”, and Emeritus Professor, Founder of the Laboratory of Manufacturing Technology of the National Technical University of Athens, Greece.

A graduated Mechanical and Electrical Engineer from the National Technical University of Athens, he has obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Victoria University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST)
.
He has a vast industrial experience as Chief Engineer/Technical Manager in Steelworks in Germany and Greece for several years, and over 50 years cooperation in research and industrial activities with the American-, British-, German-, European Union-, Japanese-, Ex Soviet Union Republics-, Hungarian- and Greek-Industry. Subsequently, he moved to the academic sector for over 50 years, with: Visiting Professorships in Cambridge University, England; Universität Hannover, Germany; RWTechnische Hochschule Aachen, Germany; Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada. Full Professorships in Michigan Technological University, USA; National Technical University of Athens, Greece.

He received numerous Academic Degrees and Awards worldwide: Elected Member of various Academies of Sciences; Honorary Professor (multi); Honorary Doctor (multi); Fellow/Member of many international Scientific Organizations and Journals (Editorial Board); Citations in the USA, UK, Europe, Hungary, Japan, Greece etc.

His published work covers the theoretical, experimental and practical aspects of: Mechanics, Manufacturing Technology, Precision / Ultraprecision Engineering, Nanotechnology, Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Materials Technology from Macro-, Micro- to Nanoscale, Powder Production and Processing Technologies, Biomechanics / Biomedical Engineering, Transport / Structural Plasticity / Crashworthiness of Vehicles, Energy and Environmental Aspects, Safety and Defense. It consists of: 32 Books and Monographs, 12 Textbooks, 550 Papers in Refereed Journals and Conference Proceedings, 2 Patents, worldwide.
